Many years ago before I retired I made myself a promise. My promise was once I retired I was going to do the things that made me happy and I kept that promise. I prepared for my retirement years before I retired by saving every penny that was not necessary to spend. Then when I retired I had the money to buy a new house, car, furniture, etc. without incurring any serious debt. Most of all I had a dollar or two left over to buy a pool table. Shooting pool is my favorite hobby since I was twelve years old. My grandfather and older brothers were quite the billiard players so I had some good teachers. My pool table is not a toy, it's a nine footer with 3/4 inch slate and weights over two thousand pounds.
